The poorer and richer farms were and are still standing one beside the other in the different parts of the village. Only the farm-hands living quarters /four-family cottages/ were situated nearer the manor, at some distance away from the village. The type and dimensions of the particular elements of the farm buildings very according to the time when the farm was built, the kind of production and its extent, and the amount of money allocated. The oldest farms consisted of one building only, and so it has remained till the present as far as the small farms are concerned. The bigger farms had several buildings, standing apart or clustered together. The oldest type of cottage consisted of one room, without a vestibule, now no more extant on this area. Till late the common type was the one -track with a central vestibule and two rooms symetrically disposed on both sides. Since the early ninetheen twenteen we may observe a tendency to move the live-stock part outside the dwelling-house, with a simulatenously growing numer of rooms in the latter. it is groving into an important determinant of the social status of its owner. The oldest type of construction used for the cottage walls was plaitwork on pillars, clay-plastered. The prevailing part of the farm-houses were built of wooden logs, the most popular construction being the dovetail type. A local peculiarity is the cottage roof the construction of which is quite independent of the top parts of the walls. Along with the wooden cottages, houses made of brick began to be introduced since the mid-nineteenth century, gaining wide popularity in the nineteen twenties. The roofs, at first high and of the hip-roofs type, gradually gave way to lower ones, of the gable-roof type. The roofing tile and the asbestic tile began to be substituted for straw to cover roofs. The construction of buildings for the live-stock in general follows the same line of evolution as that of the dwelling-house in similar time intervals. The oldest barns had surbased vaults and were of the "dovetail" construction type. The more recent buildings have a pillar-and frame construction, and their roofs do not differ from those described for the dwelling-houses.
